Energy Solutions for COVID 19 Response in Odisha

On April 29, when the first batch of Odia migrant labourers reached the state in the wake of coronavirus-induced lockdown, Odisha had only 125 positive cases of COVID-19. On June 21, Odisha recorded the highest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases and crossed 5,000-mark.
272 cases out of 304 on June 21, were recorded in quarantine centres which house migrant workers who have returned from other states.
Energy Solutions for COVID 19 response in Odisha: quarantine, isolation, screening and therapeutic care
SELCO Foundations aims to strengthen rural infrastructure by implementing sustainable energy systems for migrant shelters, isolation units, quarantine centers and therapeutic care centers in partnership with NGOs in Odisha responding to COVID care. The objective is to partner with local government, private or PPP run models in Odisha and identify most high impact and emergency needs for health systems and migrant return infrastructure strengthening.

Some examples of the types of interventions we aim to do are attached to the email. Interventions can span from solar mobile screening units, solar powering testing centers, solar powering and constructing (or modifying) sustainable quarantine centers, solar powering district hospitals etc in low resource settings in Odisha. Interventions can include solar, efficient appliances and green built environments.
